What is microneedling?

Microneedling uses fine needles to create controlled micro-channels in the skin. This process is designed to support the skin’s natural renewal response and collagen and elastin production, with the aim of improving the appearance of texture and overall skin quality.

At CURA skin, microneedling belongs to The CURA Regenerative Collection. A consultation helps determine whether this approach is suitable and which concerns to prioritise.

Skin concerns to discuss

Microneedling may be considered for the appearance of acne scars, uneven texture, enlarged pores, fine lines and changes in firmness. CURA skin’s existing treatment information also discusses surgical scars and stretch marks.

These concerns can have different causes and responses. An assessment helps establish what can reasonably be addressed and whether another treatment would be more appropriate. Explore our Skin Concerns guide before your visit.

Your consultation and treatment experience

Begin with a complimentary consultation at 128 Queen Street West in Cambridge. Discuss your skin history, previous procedures, current skincare and any medications or changes in your health.

Your provider will explain the recommended approach, comfort measures and expected recovery. CURA skin’s treatment information describes topical numbing as a comfort measure. Any treatment additions or skin boosters should be discussed as part of your individual plan.

Preparing for your appointment

Ask the clinic for instructions specific to your skin and treatment. Confirm which products to use or pause before the appointment and share any recent skin irritation, sun exposure or procedures.

Bring your questions about recovery and upcoming events to the consultation. Planning around your skin’s recovery is preferable to assuming that every person will have the same downtime.

Aftercare and recovery

Redness can occur after microneedling, and recovery varies with the treatment and your skin. Follow the individual aftercare instructions provided by the clinic, including advice on cleansing, sun protection and returning to your usual skincare routine.

Ask when makeup, active skincare ingredients and other treatments can be resumed. Discuss Biomedika home care with your provider and contact the clinic if you have concerns about healing.

What results can I expect?

Changes in skin texture and appearance develop over time as the skin responds. Microneedling does not guarantee that scars or wrinkles will disappear, and neither a particular result nor a fixed number of treatments can be promised.

Your provider can reassess your response and recommend whether further treatment is appropriate. The examples on our Results & FAQ page show other skin-treatment experiences; they do not predict your microneedling outcome.
